Course
With the fundamentals section, we will cover the essential technical fundamentals necessary to perform
the skill of dealing poker. In procedures, we will cover the common industry standard procedures from
counting your well to dealing with multiple forms of poker. And the final section, drills, will offer a structured
program to craft your trade like a professional.
This manual is created for one purpose… to be a guide to education. Without someone with willpower
or drive for improvement, it serves no purpose. What you put into it is what you’ll get out.
Luckily nowadays there are many different outlets to become a poker dealer! From dealing on the
countertop with friends to dealing on the grandest stages for big money. We will cover some of the
pros vs cons, along with possible earnings, and ways to get started.

The main motivation for all aspiring dealers comes down to compensation. Different types of
employment generate different types of income. Expected income structures with hourly wage vs tips
have completely different spectrums, while they can also have a cross over effect.
For example:
~ Dealing for a casino party event: High hourly with low % tips
~ Dealing for a casino: Low hourly with high % tips (similar to a waiter/waitress)
~ Dealing for your friends: Likely neither

The audition can be a very daunting task for some, and a breeze for others. The difference is in the preparation. Similar to moments in sports, an audition can add extra pressure to simple tasks. Which creates mistakes, forgetful moments, and shaky hands. During your typical audition, a poker room manager will have you conduct each game that is played in the room to find out which games you are capable of dealing. After the assessment, it will be decided whether or not you are ready to be employed. They will be focusing on your technical skills of pitching cards, ability to keep track of rake, manage the emotions and actions of the table, and hand reading capabilities.

This training program is set up to focus on the development of your dexterity and dealing ability. The
drills are designed to challenge your mechanics by pushing your limits of comfort. Frustration will be a
factor when you first begin. The average pitch takes about 10 hours to become comfortable, so the first
couple of days are geared toward getting over the hurdle of awkwardness. Persist through the pitch
development and we will work on speed. If you need to take extra time or extra days to feel comfortable
make sure to do so before advancing too far into the program.
